drive Partnerships, Strategy, and Sustainable Growth. He has 26 years of rich experience in
leading Electrical & Electronics R&D teams at Maruti, Bajaj Auto, and Ola’s EV initiative. His global exposure at Suzuki R&D also brings deep insight into Japanese work practices.
Patro is an auto industry veteran who brings an in-depth understanding of technology and collaborates with the right partners that will accelerate MATEL’s growth as a genuinely homegrown tech company with complete indigenous design, development, and manufacturing of PMSM Motors, Gearbox, and Controllers. MATEL has pioneered Energy Efficient Motors and Controller for the last five years. It has proven its technology and product reliability in the field with more than 50,000 motors deployed in various applications.
MATEL already has a strong R&D team equipped with state-of-art Simulation Tools and Testing set-up, which enables them in faster product development as well as validation. Having vast experience in the automotive industry, Patro emphasises safety and reliability aspects are accorded top priority in our complete design and development thought process. To further strengthen its product portfolio offering to OEMs, MATEL is all set to release its BMS and Data Analytics Algorithm in the near future
A company spokesperson confirmed that MATEL is now ready with its state-of-art manufacturing facility with a capacity of more than 100K units per year, and series production will start soon. In the first phase, production will start for e2W and e3W OEMs and later this year products for LCVs would also be ready for production. This is in line with the founder’s dream of contributing towards the Make in India initiative by the Government and complying with FAME-2 norms with the highest margin.
On the sourcing front, Patro informs that MATEL is working with Renesas, one of the top global manufacturers of key electronic components, and uses all auto-qualified parts only for high reliability and durability, which is a key requirement in the automotive industry. MATEL has developed a complete supplier ecosystem locally and has been sensitive to partnering with companies having good automotive experience.
