Amararaja signs MoU with Telangana Govt to set up a Lithium-ion Battery Gigafactory

To establish the first lithium-ion battery gigafactory in the state, an agreement was signed by Amara Raja Batteries and the Telangana government.

To establish the gigafactory in the state’s Mahbubnagar district, they signed an MoU. They agreed to terms in an MoU to build the gigafactory in the state’s Mahbubnagar district. A battery pack assembly unit at the gigafactory will have a maximum capacity of 5 GWh and a total capacity of up to 16 GWh. The Amara Raja Batteries also stated that it plans to invest Rs 9,500 crore in the region over the period of ten years adhering to necessary approvals.

The announcement was made in the presence of distinguished members of the industry which included Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Ind & Com and IT, E&C, and Shri K T Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Ind and Com, IT, E&C, and MA & UD.

The facility will be state of an art research and manufacturing centre, according to the industrial and automotive battery company. It would house cutting-edge manufacturing and research.

The facility will be known as the Amara Raja E-hub. It will be a research and innovation hub for advanced energy in Hyderabad. It will also provide high-end testing facilities and laboratories for material research, prototyping, product life cycle analysis, and Proof of Concept presentations.

Amara Raja Batteries has been developing lithium-ion cell chemistries appropriate for the climate in the Indian subcontinent and already offers lithium battery packs and chargers. As a result, it possesses the necessary expertise in the area, giving it a competitive edge.

Amara Raja Batteries has taken a huge step forward with this strategic partnership with the Telangana government. It will spur the development of sustainable technologies throughout the entire region and create job opportunities. They also have a long history with the state and are thrilled about the chance they have now to build an industrial base in Telangana.
