
India’s electric four-wheeler (E4W) market bounced back strongly in October 2025, registering 17,873 units sold, a 9.2% month-on-month (MoM) growth compared to September’s 16,368 units.
The festive season and improving supply chains drove this rebound, with leading OEMs like Tata Motors, JSW MG Motor India, and Mahindra & Mahindra recording healthy growth. Several emerging brands, including Kia, Hyundai, and VinFast, also posted double-digit jumps in sales momentum.

Tata Motors retained its crown with 7,157 units sold, up 7.8% MoM, maintaining a commanding 40% market share.
The Nexon EV and Tiago EV remain top favorites, while Harrier EV’s steady ramp-up added incremental volumes. Tata continues to dominate the affordable EV category, supported by robust dealer networks and expanding fast-charging coverage.

JSW MG Motor India grew 8.6% MoM, selling 4,525 units in October.
The MG ZS EV and Comet EV continue to perform well, while the Windsor sedan’s demand from corporate fleets supported the brand’s strong showing. With a 25.3% market share, MG remains Tata’s closest rival and a solid performer in the urban compact EV space.

Mahindra recorded 3,877 units, up 11.1% MoM, continuing its steady upward trend.
The new XEV 9e SUV and BE 6 coupe have been key growth drivers. Mahindra’s festive promotions helped lift October sales, and with multiple BE-series EVs lined up for 2026, its trajectory remains strong.
Kia India delivered 655 units, a solid 24.1% MoM increase, making it one of the top gainers of October.
The EV9’s strong reception in metro markets and the consistent popularity of the EV6 boosted volumes. Kia is also exploring local assembly options for its EV lineup by 2026 to enhance affordability.
BYD India’s sales stood at 565 units, reflecting a 5% dip MoM, as supply constraints slightly affected deliveries.
Despite the marginal decline, BYD maintains its presence among premium EV brands with consistent fleet and retail performance, led by the Seal sedan and e6 MPV.
Hyundai reported 437 units, marking a 20.1% MoM growth.
The Creta EV’s stable demand and the continued traction for the Ioniq 5 contributed to the uptick. Hyundai plans to launch the Kona EV facelift soon, aiming to sustain momentum into the final quarter of FY25.
BMW India registered 309 units, a 7.2% decline MoM.
While the i4 remains a key volume driver, deliveries of the iX slowed slightly. The ultra-premium i7 continues to attract niche luxury buyers. BMW’s ongoing expansion of its highway charging network will likely bolster Q4 sales.
VinFast made a significant mark with 131 units, up sharply from just 6 in September.
This jump marks the Vietnamese automaker’s strongest performance yet in India, signaling an accelerating entry into the compact EV SUV segment.
Mercedes-Benz recorded 90 units, down 16.7% MoM.
Despite the dip, the EQ lineup continues to enjoy solid brand recall in the premium EV market. Mercedes is now focusing on digital enhancements within its ‘Mercedes me’ ecosystem to enrich ownership experiences.
Stellantis (Citroën) posted 52 units, up 40.5% MoM, driven by growing demand for the ëC3 EV in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Citroën’s focus on affordability and local sourcing continues to strengthen its position in India’s entry-level EV space.
The luxury EV space saw mixed performance.
BMW (-7.2%) and Mercedes (-16.7%) declined, while new entrant VinFast and Stellantis posted strong growth. Tesla India Motors sold 40 units, a drop from 69 in September, as supply realignment impacted deliveries.
Luxury EVs accounted for roughly 3.2% of total EV sales in October 2025.
October 2025 marked a return to growth for India’s EV market, with overall sales rising 9.2% MoM.
Tata Motors, MG, and Mahindra strengthened their dominance, together capturing nearly 87% of the market.
Newcomers like VinFast and Stellantis showed impressive growth, while Kia and Hyundai sustained positive momentum.
With festive demand and multiple new EV launches expected in Q4, the Indian E4W sector appears set for a record-breaking finish to 2025.
