Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) has unveiled its advanced Pure EV architecture, named acti.ev (pronounced as active). The acronym stands for Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle and is poised to become an integral component in upcoming offerings from the TPEM portfolio. The initial product built on this Pure Electric Architecture will be Punch.ev, representing the first in a series of electric vehicles. This innovative architecture is designed to accommodate a range of products featuring diverse body styles and sizes, signaling Tata’s commitment to expanding its electric mobility offerings.
The inaugural product utilizing this state-of-the-art architecture is the ‘Punch.ev.‘ Interested customers can now book the Punch.ev by visiting Tata Motors showrooms authorized for EV sales, Tata.ev stores, or through online channels. Bookings are open, and customers can secure their electric vehicle with a nominal deposit of ₹21,000, marking a significant step forward in embracing Tata’s cutting-edge electric mobility solutions
Let’s have a look at some of the key details of acti.ev:
The acti.ev architecture is founded on the core principles of Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency, comprising four integral layers:
acti.ev showcases a refined battery pack design, featuring cells subjected to stringent global standards, resulting in a remarkable 10% enhancement in energy density. The adaptable battery pack design offers a variety of range options spanning from 300 km to 600 km. The architecture will have a superior thermal and weight efficiency. The architecture provides flexibility in selecting the appropriate drivetrain option for the specific product, with choices ranging from AWD, RWD, to FWD. Additionally, acti. ev supports 7.2kW to 11kW on-board charger for AC fast charging and DC Fast Charging up to 150kW, enabling an impressive ~100 km range boost in just 10 minutes.
The second layer of this architecture accommodates diverse body styles, with 5+ products in next 18 months. It will have a reinforced body structure designed to meet future safety protocols like GNCAP / BNCAP. acti.ev optimizes cabin space and storage by incorporating a flat floor without a transmission tunnel, along with an additional frunk, providing more room for occupants. Its lower center of gravity contributes to enhanced driving dynamics and handling.
acti.ev is a forward-looking, scalable architecture with increased computing capabilities and ADAS level 2 functionalities. The architecture is prepared for ADAS L2+ capabilities, future HMI, ensuring elevated safety and navigation standards. With 5G readiness, it facilitates advanced network speeds and seamless connectivity. The architecture supports Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technology.
Built on a scalable cloud architecture, this layer ensures a future-ready environment that enhances user experience, incorporating Arcade.ev, an in-car app suite. Furthermore, acti.ev is equipped with state-of-the-art solutions that not only guarantee superior connectivity but also advanced over-the-air updates for software and additional features.
