A Tata Nexon EV Empowered Plus LR owner has posted on LinkedIn describing a tyre burst accident and a long repair delay, raising concerns about customer support, service timelines and tyre reliability.
Yogesh Kurne, the vehicle owner, shared that he purchased the EV on 10 August 2024.
On 8 August 2025, just 332 days later, the front-left tyre burst while he was driving, causing the vehicle to lose balance and collide with another car moving beside him.

The car was equipped with MRF tyres from the factory.
Kurne mentioned that this was not the first tyre-related issue.
One tyre had earlier developed a side cut while parked, which he initially ignored, thinking it was an isolated case.
According to Kurne, MRF rejected his complaint, stating that the tyre showed “external damage.”
He claims the damage occurred after the tyre burst, not before, leaving him with no support during the first year of ownership.
The car was submitted for repairs on 8 August 2025.
As of 20 November 2025, 104 days later, he says the vehicle had still not been returned, and he was asked to wait another 8–10 days.
Kurne said neither the dealer nor the manufacturer offered a courtesy or standby vehicle during the long repair period.
He also expressed worry that the damaged battery was being repaired instead of being replaced, which he believes could affect long-term reliability.
Since neither Tata Motors nor MRF accepted responsibility, he had to buy a new tyre on his own.

Kurne clarified that his intention is not to defame any brand, but to highlight gaps in support for EV owners.
The official Tata.ev account replied under his post, stating:
“We’re truly sorry to hear about the incident… Please share your contact number via DM so we can prioritise your concern.”
Later, Tata.ev confirmed they had received his details and forwarded them to the concerned team.
Several commenters shared their own experiences and opinions:
A Tata car owner commented that customers should always check tyre manufacturing date during PDI, as older tyres stored for long periods can become brittle.
Another user said he also faced tyre burst issues in other vehicles, and warranty claims were similarly denied by manufacturers.
One commenter wrote: “Don’t expect this kind of customer service from Indian brands… customer centricity is missing.”
Another said he had replaced three tyres within a year due to quality concerns and would not recommend Tata or MRF.
A user pointed out that airbags didn’t deploy in the shared images.
A few commenters urged Tata Motors to fix gaps, review tyre-related complaints and offer better transparency.
New India Assurance also replied, asking Kurne to email his details so the team could assist further.
In a reply to one commenter, Kurne stated that there were three people in the car, and all of them walked away safely from the accident. Check out the LinkedIn posts here.
