FAME-II Scheme Not Extended Beyond March 31, Clarifies Government

New Delhi: The Indian government has poured cold water on recent media reports suggesting an extension for the FAME-II scheme,

a flagship initiative promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption. Officials from the Ministry of Heavy Industries have denied any such extension.

Earlier reports claimed a temporary four-month extension for FAME-II, pushing the deadline to July 31, 2024, with an additional budget of Rs 500 crore.

However, the government has maintained that subsidies under the scheme will only be available for electric vehicles sold until March 31, 2024,

or until allocated funds are exhausted.

This clarification comes after the Ministry’s announcement last month, which confirmed the March 31 deadline.
