EMotorad, an electric vehicle company endorsed by cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, unveils plans for constructing the world’s largest integrated electric cycle gigafactory. The ambitious project aims to rival Ola’s expansion efforts in Pune, positioning India as a global leader in gigafactory manufacturing. With the expansion of its manufacturing unit, the company solidifies its commitment to driving innovation and accessibility in the EV market.
Sumedh Battewar, co-founder and chief business officer (CBO) of EMotorad, said that expanding the company’s gigafactory is driven by technological advancements, automation, and government initiatives
”In the face of the climate crisis, gigafactories are leading the way for alternative mobilities, with India spearheading this transformative journey,” said Battewar”
Gigafactory Innovation:
The gigafactory, spanning 240,000 square feet in its initial phase, will serve as a comprehensive production hub for electric cycle components. EMotorad’s gigafactory aims to achieve vertical integration and ensure the highest quality standards in EV production, from batteries to motors, displays, and chargers.
Scaling Production Capacity:
With an initial production capacity exceeding 500,000 e-cycles annually, EMotorad’s gigafactory is poised to meet the surging demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions. The phased construction approach reflects a strategic vision to scale operations progressively and establish industry-leading manufacturing capabilities.
Giga Expansion in Four Phases:
The construction of the e-cycle gigafactory unfolds in four distinct phases, each contributing to its evolution as a manufacturing powerhouse. Upon completing phase one, slated to commence in August, the facility will emerge as South Asia’s premier integrated e-cycle gigafactory, surpassing existing benchmarks in the region. Phase one’s primary focus lies on giga component production, laying the groundwork for subsequent phases to bolster in-house manufacturing capabilities.
Embracing Industry 4.0:
EMotorad embraces the principles of Industry 4.0, leveraging smart manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency and productivity. The company sets a new benchmark for innovation and sustainability in the EV sector by harnessing cutting-edge technologies and creating intelligent factories. The company is also gearing up to expand its product lineup by introducing an array of electric vehicles.
“EMotorad is proof that the capital invested towards building assets in a startup can still yield the scale and growth of any venture capital-backed enterprise, and these strategic ventures will turn startups into generational businesses,” said Rajib Gangopadhyay, founder and corporate strategist of EMotorad.
