Chinese auto major BYD (Build Your Dreams) launches its new Seal Electric vehicle (EV) in India on March 5, 2024. Unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo, the Sedan Seal EV marks BYD’s third product in the country, following the all-electric e6 and Atto 3. The sedan Seal EV inherits design cues from the Ocean X concept from 2021 and follows BYD’s “ocean aesthetics” design language and ocean-themed nomenclature.

The design inspiration for the Seal electric vehicle is drawn from the 2021 Ocean X Face concept, aligning seamlessly with BYD’s distinctive “ocean aesthetics” design philosophy and its ocean-themed nomenclature. Noteworthy features of the Seal include a panoramic all-glass roof resembling a coupe, seamlessly integrated door handles, and four boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. The split headlamp design and a rear-end adorned with a full-width LED light bar add to the vehicle’s visual appeal. Embodying a coupe-like silhouette, the Seal boasts a distinctive front, characterized by sleek LED headlights with expansive C-shaped DRLs that extend to the bumper. The BYD Seal EV interior defines luxury with its expansive and comfortable design. Inspired by Thaumas, the Greek god of the sea, the Thaumas Black Interior sets the tone for sophistication. The bolstered sports seats offer heating, ventilation, and electric adjustment and also have memory drive settings, ensuring a personalized driving experience. In the rear row, a spacious 3-seat design with a continuous flat floor and 60/40 split folding seats adds versatility.
One of the standout features is the Crystal Gearshift, known as the Heart of the Ocean, adding a touch of elegance to the driving experience. The interior further impresses with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way Lumbar Power Adjustment, enhancing comfort. The BYD Seal boasts impressive charging capabilities, with the ability to charge at speeds of up to 150kW. Achieving a 10-80 percent charge takes just 37 minutes, making it convenient for quick top-ups. For a comprehensive charge using a regular 11kW AC charger, it takes approximately 8.6 hours to go from 0-100 percent. Notably, the Seal supports Vehicle to Load (V2L) charging, adding versatility for activities like camping and outdoor use.

The Dynamic Range variant is priced at Rs 41 lakh ex-showroom, providing an efficient and cost-effective option. The Premium Range variant, with enhanced features, is available at Rs 45.55 lakh ex-showroom, offering a balance between technology and extended range. At the top end, the Performance variant, priced at Rs 53 lakh ex-showroom, represents the pinnacle of electric vehicle capabilities, targeting enthusiasts who seek top-tier performance and cutting-edge features.
BOOKING DETAILS
The booking process for the BYD Seal requires a booking amount of INR 1.25 lakhs per vehicle, and this offer is valid until March 31, 2024.
