A Tata Harrier EV owner from Jaipur has raised concerns on LinkedIn after facing repeated technical failures within days of purchasing the electric SUV.
Sampat Sain, a student at Dr M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, revealed that he bought the Harrier EV ACFC 75 on 29 July 2025 to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.
According to his post and video message, the vehicle, registered as RJ 59 CB 4257, suffered a complete lock-up on the very day of delivery, leaving it unresponsive.
He claimed to have mailed Tata Motors but received no reply. The vehicle was purchased from Shree Shyam Motors, and when contacted, the dealership reportedly told him the issue was due to “igneous battery lights.” Later, a few days after the first breakdown, the same issue reappeared, followed by an unexpected battery shutdown while driving on busy roads.
In his video, Sain expressed frustration, stating that for a premium car costing around ₹30 lakh, such experiences are “unacceptable” and reflect poorly on both Tata Motors and the dealer.
He added that as a customer, he felt let down by the lack of support and response. The explanation provided by the dealer appeared ambiguous and left the customer unsatisfied.
Sain’s post, which has been made public on LinkedIn, tags @TataMotors_Cars and calls out senior Tata officials, using strong terms like “#boycott,” “#wasteofmoney,” and “shame on Tata Motors.” His statements underline growing consumer expectations around after-sales support in India’s premium EV segment, where early buyers are particularly sensitive to reliability issues.
As of now, Tata Motors has not issued a public response to the matter.
Following the post, the official Tata Passenger Electric Mobility page commented under Sain’s complaint, acknowledging the issue. The company wrote: “Dear Mr. Sain, we have already taken up your concern via Facebook and shared it with the relevant team. They are looking into your matter on priority. We have requested them to get in touch with you to share the necessary updates.”

A separate incident in Avinashi, Tamil Nadu, on 20 August 2025, involving the Tata Harrier EV’s summon mode, reportedly malfunctioned and resulted in a fatality when the vehicle began rolling with a door open, causing a user to sustain a head injury—he was later declared brain-dead.
