Tata Motors has confirmed that its next major electric vehicle will arrive in 2027, strengthening the brand’s long-term EV roadmap for India.
As the country’s dominant electric car manufacturer with over 43% market share as of early 2026 and more than 250,000 EVs sold to date, Tata isn’t just launching another product.
It’s opening an entirely new chapter in its electric story.
The upcoming launch is expected to be part of Tata’s next phase of EV development, built on a dedicated electric architecture rather than modified ICE platforms.
This shift is significant.
While current models like the Nexon EV and Punch EV Facelift are based on adapted platforms, Tata’s future EVs will ride on purpose-built skateboard platforms designed for better battery packaging, longer range, and improved performance.
Industry reports suggest that the 2027 EV could be a production version derived from Tata’s Gen 3 EV concepts, possibly linked to the Avinya lineup.
These models are expected to focus on:
-
Larger battery packs with higher energy density
-
Real-world driving range exceeding 500 km
-
Ultra-fast DC charging capability
-
Advanced connected car technology
-
Level 2+ ADAS safety systems
-
Premium interior experience with sustainable materials
Tata Motors has already invested heavily in EV infrastructure, battery sourcing, and localised manufacturing. With India’s EV market expected to grow significantly by 2027, this launch will play a crucial role in maintaining
Tata’s leadership position against rising competition from Mahindra, Hyundai, MG, and upcoming global entrants.
This New Tata Sierra EV, we are expeting ex-showroom price will likely fall in the ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh range in India, positioning it above the Nexon EV but below larger electric SUVs such as the Harrier EV.

The company’s Sanand plant in Gujarat is likely to be a key production hub for next-generation EVs. Tata is also focusing on expanding partnerships for charging infrastructure to support higher-capacity batteries and faster charging networks.
Pricing details remain undisclosed, but early expectations indicate a premium positioning above the current Nexon EV and Curvv EV range. The 2027 launch is likely to target urban SUV buyers looking for longer range, futuristic design, and advanced safety features.
With this confirmation, Tata Motors signals that its EV strategy is entering a more mature phase.
The 2027 electric SUV will not just be another addition to the lineup; it represents Tata’s transition into a fully dedicated electric future, backed by stronger technology, better range, and global ambitions.
The Avinya Lineup: Five Models, Codenamed P1 to P5

The Avinya isn’t a single vehicle — it’s a family. The Avinya range is expected to feature at least five models, internally named P1 to P5. The first model, the P1, is currently in development and is expected to be a premium offering with a starting price of over ₹35 lakh.
Earlier this year, Tata previewed the Avinya X at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, a coupe-crossover concept expected to represent one of the future models in the lineup internally known as the P4. Park+ The design direction shown at the expo was genuinely futuristic: flowing surfaces, a dramatically sloping roofline, and an interior philosophy centred entirely on calm and wellness rather than tech overload.
More official specifications and reveal timelines are expected closer to the launch window.
