
The Indian EV Industry continues its strong upward growth trajectory.
With rapid urbanization and a push for clean mobility, the demand for electric three-wheelers (E3Ws) has reached new highs in 2025.
India’s Passenger 3W Autos Increasingly Turn Electric.
Between January 2025 and August 2025, a total of 4,13,271 passenger autos were registered in India, out of which 1,22,794 were electric.
This data combines pan-India numbers from the Vahan Dashboard along with Telangana figures.
The trend is clear – EV adoption in passenger three-wheelers is accelerating rapidly.
The average monthly EV penetration in this category has risen to 29.7% in 2025 (Jan–Aug), compared to 18.2% in the same period of 2024.
Notably, July 2025 recorded the highest penetration to date at 34.4%, indicating the strongest consumer shift toward electric mobility yet.
August 2025 closed as another remarkable month for the industry, with the segment showing significant year-on-year growth and important month-on-month shifts in OEM rankings.
The Indian E3W industry is witnessing the fastest electrification across all vehicle categories.
As per Vahan Dashboard data, August 2025 highlighted not only strong YoY growth but also notable Month-on-Month changes compared to July 2025.
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility remains the top-selling OEM in the category, closely followed by Bajaj Auto Ltd. Together, they hold a commanding 75% market share.
TVS Motor Company has emerged as a strong challenger in third place, showing commendable month-on-month growth throughout 2025.

Mahindra maintained leadership with 7,330 sales in August 2025, but this was a 14% decline compared to July’s 8,515 units.
On a YoY basis, sales more than doubled (+143%), showing the brand’s strength despite month-on-month fluctuation.

Bajaj Auto sold 5,919 units in August 2025, down 19% from July’s 7,325 units.
Despite the MoM dip, the company posted an exceptional YoY growth of 362%, making it the fastest riser among the top OEMs compared to 2024.

TVS continued its upward climb, selling 2,333 units in August 2025, a slight 3% MoM growth over July’s 2,265 units.
Compared to 2024 (almost negligible sales), this is a massive leap, solidifying TVS’s position in the top 3.
Key model: TVS King EV Max.
Piaggio sold 1,112 units in August 2025, almost flat compared to July’s 1,104 units (+1% MoM). However, YoY sales dropped slightly (-3%).
Piaggio is holding its ground but faces growing pressure from newer OEMs.
Portfolio: Apé Electrik lineup – E-City FX Max (Passenger), E-Xtra FX Max (Cargo).
TI Clean Mobility recorded 560 units in August 2025, down 4% MoM compared to 585 units in July.
On a YoY basis, it showed 18% growth. The brand remains consistent in the mid-tier OEM rankings.
Omega Seiki registered 171 units in August 2025, down 5% MoM from 180 in July.
Still, YoY growth remains solid at +37%.
Atul Greentech delivered a strong performance in August, selling 143 units – a 101% MoM jump from 71 in July.
On a YoY basis, the brand posted 330% growth, showing accelerating momentum.
Euler Motors slipped slightly in August, selling 66 units compared to 72 in July (-8% MoM). Still, YoY performance is impressive considering its negligible base in 2024.
Atul Auto sold 62 units in August 2025, down 5% from 65 in July, and also saw a YoY decline (-14%).
The company is losing ground to newer entrants.
MLR Auto closed the top 10 with 37 units in August 2025, marking a 48% MoM increase over 25 units in July and a 164% YoY growth.
This jump helped it retain its leaderboard position.
August 2025 reinforced that the electric three-wheeler segment is not only growing YoY but also experiencing dynamic month-to-month shifts:
Mahindra & Bajaj remain dominant, though both saw sales dip compared to July.
TVS Motor is the star performer, showing consistent growth and securing the third spot.
Atul Greentech and MLR Auto posted the strongest MoM growth, while Piaggio held steady.
The overall trend shows competition intensifying, with even smaller OEMs contributing to a more diverse and robust market.
With more than 550 OEMs active in the Indian E3W space, the market remains vibrant and competitive.
August’s data highlights how quickly leadership can shift month-to-month, making the E3W market one of the most dynamic segments in India’s EV revolution.
