The electric vehicle (EV) revolution is upon us, and with it comes a new era of mobility and transportation. The shift towards EVs is not only changing the way we travel but also changing the way we maintain and repair vehicles. To keep up with the fast-paced evolution of the automotive industry, Castrol India, a subsidiary of British Petroleum, has taken a proactive approach by launching the first-of-its-kind ‘EV Readiness training program for mechanics.
The goal of this training program is to educate and prepare mechanics for the unique maintenance requirements of EVs. Mechanics will receive hands-on training, covering a range of topics from the basics of EVs and their components to diagnosing and repairing EVs effectively. The training includes an eight-hour module, where mechanics will learn the essentials of EVs and acquire diagnostic skills for EV service and maintenance. In addition to the training, Castrol India also offers a preview of their range of advanced EV fluids, Castrol ON, which was launched globally in 2021 and will soon be available in India.
The first leg of Castrol’s EV readiness training program was held in New Delhi, covering over 100 car and bike mechanics. The second leg was held in Chennai, with an additional 100 mechanics in attendance.
After the training, mechanics are evaluated through a quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of EVs and are awarded a certificate of completion. The response from mechanics has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to learn about the future of mobility.
Castrol India’s launch of the EV readiness training program is a major step in preparing for the future of mobility. With the increasing demand for EVs, it is essential for mechanics to have the necessary knowledge and skills to handle the unique maintenance requirements of these vehicles. By providing this training, Castrol India is not only investing in the future of the automotive industry, but also in the future of the mechanics who work in it.
Based on the strong and successful response from mechanics, Castrol India plans to roll out its EV readiness training to other cities in the country. This is a significant achievement, as it shows that Castrol India is committed to supporting the growth of the EV industry in India and ensuring that mechanics are equipped to handle the changing needs of the automotive industry.
Castrol India’s launch of the ‘EV Readiness’ training program for mechanics is a major milestone in the shift towards EVs. By providing mechanics with the knowledge and skills they need to diagnose and repair EVs, Castrol India is ensuring that the future of mobility is in good hands. With its continued focus on innovation and sustainability, Castrol India is poised to be at the forefront of the EV revolution and will continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of the automotive industry.
