Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Pvt Ltd announced a significant licensing agreement with GIB EnergyX Slovakia s.r.o., a subsidiary of Gotion High-Tech Co Ltd. Under this agreement, GIB EnergyX will provide Amara Raja access to its advanced LFP technology for lithium-ion cells. The deal empowers Amara Raja to manufacture LFP cells in cylindrical and prismatic forms, using Gotion’s cutting-edge technology and process expertise.

Key officials from ARE&M and GIB EnergyX expressed optimism about their partnership. Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of ARE&M, emphasized their confidence in India’s burgeoning EV market and the synergy between Gotion’s technology and their three decades of energy and mobility expertise.

Steven Cai, Chairman of GIB EnergyX and Director at Gotion HighTech Co, highlighted the partnership’s potential to benefit Indian customers during the energy transition. He acknowledged India’s growth prospects and commended Amara Raja’s corporate values and market success in energy storage products.

Advancing Manufacturing Capabilities and Integration

This comprehensive partnership encompasses several critical aspects, which includes

IP access to cell technology,
support in establishing gigafactory facilities equipped with the latest generation process technologies,
Integration into Gotion’s global supply chain network for essential battery materials.

Additionally, Gotion will provide technical support to Amara Raja for the deployment of solutions, ensuring robust operational capabilities.

Strategic Collaboration for Industry Advancement

Amara Raja and Gotion’s collaboration extends beyond technology licensing. Both companies are active shareholders and board members of InoBat, a prominent lithium battery technology firm in Slovakia. Together, they are advancing innovative applications such as electric aviation and fostering a sustainable ‘Cradle to Cradle’ ecosystem within the battery value chain.

Recently, GIB, a joint venture between Gotion High-tech and InoBat, finalized an investment agreement with the Slovak government to establish the first LFP battery gigafactory in Slovakia, marking a significant milestone in battery manufacturing and technology advancement.
